Brunch With the Girls is on International Women’s Day. It is put on by Northern Haven Support Society board. Northern Haven runs the emergency women’s shelter in Slave Lake, raises awareness about domestic violence, and has community supports for women and men (and their children) escaping domestic violence.
Johanna Bayton Smith is the speaker. She is a survivor of domestic violence and has been a significant education to health professionals, the justice system and faith groups on the issues of domestic violence prevention. She is a founding member of the CIAFV Community Advocates project team and a retired nurse manager. She is passionate about ending domestic violence by empowering our communities on what each of us can do to make a difference.
Time: Sunday, March 5, doors open at 10:30 a.m., brunch starts at 11 a.m.
Location: TA Asian Grill and Steakhouse, Slave Lake
Cost: $35 available at the Business Factory and through NHSS board members.
