To kick off the day,  we will be meeting at the Sawridge Truckstop at 8:45 am for a hearty breakfast  compliments of the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory.  Sunrise is at about 9:00 a.m. but sometimes the birds need to warm up a little before they start moving. At breakfast, we will make up the “teams”, plan the routes, and then head out for a winter birding adventure. How long you head out for is up to you and up to the birds!  Don’t worry if you aren’t a hard core birder, we can pair you up with someone with more birding expertise. But remember, winter birding is a lot easier than summer birding!

What to Bring:

  • Warm winter gear and boots – it can get chilly standing listening for birds!
  • Hot chocolate/coffee and Snacks
  • Lunch if you plan on making a day of it
  • Binoculars and bird guides/apps
  • Digital camera in case you spot a really good bird.
  • Clipboard is handy

There will be extra binoculars, field guides, etc. available to borrow at breakfast if you need them.
