Slave Lake town council has its man, and his name is Jeff Simpson.
The news arrived by way of a release on June 3, putting an end to a few weeks of intensive interviewing by council. According to mayor Tyler Warman, “we actually had a number great of applicants.”
That implies Simpson was the best of the bunch, and he seems keen to dive in.
“Honoured,” and “thrilled” is how he described his feelings about being chosen for the job.
Born and raised in Saskatchwan, Simpson’s career in the RCMP was mainly in Alberta and his home province. One of his stints was as detachment commander in Fort Vermilion. After retiring, he served as director of operations for Mackenzie County.
Simpson is due to start at the town on June 20.
