Leader staff

Northern Lakes College (NLC) President and CEO Dr. Glenn Mitchell has received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

Mitchell was nominated by Alberta Advanced Education, for exceptional qualities and outstanding service in the field of adult education.

Mitchell has been with NLC for 16 years and been in education leadership for over 25. He’s been NLC president for three years.

In the news release, Dr. Mitchell says that while he is “profoundly honored” by the commendation, he sees this not as an individual achievement, but a college achievement. He notes that it would not have been possible without the dedication of NLC employees. He states, “we have an amazing staff who understand the need to count our success one student at a time,” and adds, “our team’s dedication to our students is the reason for our success.”

Alberta has (or will) award 7,000 people with platinum jubilee medals, in recognition of Queen Elizabeth’s 70th anniversary on the thrown.
