The benches in front of the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Library/town office have been removed. There was no announcement, but it seems likely it was done at least partly to deter the so-called ‘vagrants’ from using them. The official word, however, makes no mention of that sort of thing. Interim town CAO Alex Pavcek says although only some of the benches were damaged, all were taken out and are being looked at back at the shop, as to whether they can be repaired or replaced. Also being assessed is where they should be located if and when they are put back. Once all the information is gathered, Pavcek says, council may be getting a report on the budget implications.
