Hwy. 44 crash
What appeared to be a three-vehicle crash on Hwy. 2 on Oct. 5 was really two separate incidents.
According to regional fire chief Alex Pavcek, it started at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 4, when a truck carrying plywood (or veneer) hit the ditch, rolled and lost its load.
The next morning, two pickup trucks collided at the same spot. It seems likely one was slowing down to take a look at the clean-up operation going on in the ditch, and was hit from behind.
One of the pickup drivers was taken to hospital in Westlock. Pavcek figures the driver of the transport truck was quite lucky to not have been badly injured. Traffic was still being affected as late as the afternoon of Oct. 5
