Leader staff

Last week Slave Lake social media-watchers were entertained by a video of a couple of hooded crooks attempting to break into Dom’s Alehouse. They approached from the back side of the snow-covered patio, and went at the door with a crowbar-like tool for a couple of minutes. They were however not successful, and skulked off the way they had come.

The person who posted the video said it was the third such attempt in two weeks at the downtown business.

Meanwhile, on the same night or perhaps one night later, Slave Lake Liquor was broken into and – so we hear – bottles of whiskey and vodka were stolen.

Also targeted in the same period was a construction company in Smith, according to RCMP Staff Sgt. Don Racette.

Racette told The Leader last week in all cases there are security camera photos of the culprits.

“But they are concealed because they know there are cameras,” Racette said.

Racette couldn’t comment much on the details of the investigation, but did say “it sounds like the same individuals” are responsible, and that the RCMP are exploring various avenues of investigation.
