With COVID restrictions and Slave Lake Koinonia Christian School’s drive-in concert cancelled because of minus 30, The Leader didn’t make it to any school Christmas shows this year.
However, this didn’t stop the kids from having fun and the schools from sending along some photos to prove it.

Mrs. Deputat’s CJS Kindergarten class had a visit from the Grinch on Grinch Day. Students also dressed up as the Grinch, coloured Grinch hats and masks, and got into all sorts of ‘Seussian’ holiday cheer.
Christmas also made its mark at Smith School in the Hamlet of Smith. The Grade 4/5 class seem to be having lots of fun on Christmas dress-up day.

St. Mary of the Lake School Kindergarten students pose with the school’s food bank donation.
“The Kinders brought in a great deal of the donation as part of their math class,” says Dan Gillmore, principal at St. Mary’s. “Other grades contributed as well and we collected other donations as part of our admission fee for our Christmas Under Stars Christmas concert.”
Ms. Block, Mr. McMahon, Mr. Young, and Andrei Joaquin play crokinole on the last day before Christmas break.
“Today (December 17) was our Christmas celebration day where students participated in baking, robotics, volleyball, minute-to-win-it challenges and board games,” says Robyn Hollohan, Roland Michener Secondary School teacher. “There was a mix of educational and fun activities planned for the day for our senior high and junior high kids.”
