A pickup driver was airlifted by STARS to an Edmonton hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision with a semi on Hwy. 88 just north of Slave Lake.

On Sunday, Sept. 11 at around 7:30 a.m, Slave Lake RCMP were dispatched to a collision, says the RCMP news release. A southbound pickup and a northbound semi collided. The pickup driver was alone in his vehicle. The semi was not loaded at the time of the accident.

Hwy. 88 was closed for a while for the police to investigate.

The collision appears to have been just north of Slave Lake, because the detour was from North Shore Drive (presumably the one next to the golf course) to Devonshire Beach Road.
