Campers and staff at Enviro Quest on July 20 at the Marten Mountain lookout, just before an edible plant walk on the Lily Lake Trail. Up in the hills, the sky was clear, but a low bed of smoke covered Lesser Slave Lake in the distance. Enviro Quest is an annual day camp for 11 to 14 year olds organized by the Lesser Slave Forest Education Society and Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation, with help from the Lesser Slave Watershed Council (LSWC) and others. Enviro Quest was July 17 to 20. They went to Kinosayo Museum, Vanderwell Contractors’ lumber mill in Mitsue Industrial Park, the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory, golfing, and to the Otauwau River to learn about water quality testing and a healthy river from the LSWC.
