It would be nice if the Slave Lake Icedogs and the Gibbons Pioneers could play more games against each other. The teams are closer to being evenly-matched and lately the games have been decided by one goal.

Saturday night’s game in Slave Lake was no exception, with the Icedogs nipping the Pioneers 4 – 3 in overtime. It took a heroic effort by Slave Lake goalie Shawn Davis, who was peppered all night long by shots. He kept his team in it, and they managed to match Gibbons in regulation. It was decided by a shootout.

Scoring for the Icedogs were Sacha Munro with two, and Wilfred Iron Jr.

Friday in High Prairie was a different story. The mighty Redwings scored 10 in the first period, and then (apparently) they stopped counting, because the final score is recorded on the league website as 10 – 0.

This Friday the Icedogs play in Fox Creek. On Saturday, they host the Northern Alberta Tomahawks.
