The Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library kicked off its Summer Reading Program in fine style with a free performance by magician Brian Lehr at Schurter Park on June 24. Susan Al-Mais, the library’s program coordinator, says it went well, with around 100 people showing up over the course of a couple of hours. Participants in the Summer Reading Program keep track of the minutes they read each day during July and August, by means of a booklet the library provides. Every week they can get a sticker for the booklet and a small prize. At the end of the summer, they can turn their booklet in and qualify for the grand prize.
