Nikka Johansson has found a teaching job in her ‘sweet spot’ at E.G. Wahlstrom School (EGW) in Slave Lake.
“I was hoping for Grade 4 to six, that’s my sweet spot,” she says.
Starting fall 2022, she is teaching Grade 4 at EGW, which has Grades 4 to six.
Originally, from High Prairie. Johansson did her bachelor of education at the University of Calgary. This is her first year teaching, but not her first time at EGW.
“I was lucky I got to do my placement with Amanda Norman here (EGW),” she says.
“It’s a great school,” she adds. “I absolutely loved it for my placement, and I was absolutely thrilled they had a job opening.”
Asked why she went into teaching, Johansson says, “I love working with kids.”
Her goal for this school year is to “build a community in the classroom,” she says. Asked how it was going, she adds, “It’s been great. This is a really good group.”
