A load of wood chips starts to pour out of a truck at the new playground at Hilda Eben Park in southeast Slave Lake.
The chips are a special sort, we’re told, trucked in from Cochrane. It works better than sand as a base for a playground – for one thing because wheelchairs can move across it without getting stuck, like they do in sand. The design calls for the chips to be 12 inches deep.
