On June. 23, 2022, at 2:18 p.m., the Slave Lake RCMP received several calls regarding Canada Post mailboxes being damaged around town. Mailboxes on 3 St NE, 2 Ave NW and 6 Ave NE have already been reported.

Canada Post stated that these mailboxes were pried open and the locks broken. The Slave Lake RCMP is looking for any information on these incidents, including video footage people may have.

Anyone with a damaged mailbox should call Transunion and Equifax to protect your identity information.

The Slave Lake RCMP continues to investigate this matter. Anyone with information to assist with the investigation, please contact the Slave Lake RCMP at 780-849-3999 or your local police detachment. If you see something suspicious, report it to your local police. If you see a crime in progress, call 911. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.

None of the vandalism reported by the RCMP on June 23 was evident on June 27 when we checked, but this box on 6th Ave. NW looked as if it had suffered a bit of abuse.
