Slave Lake Minor Baseball is eager to get at their latest diamond improvement project. That’s why they had the snow cleared off the field recently, to let the sun get at it. Planned is to re-do the infield, in much the same manner as was done on the Sinclair Field minor ball infields across the highway during the past couple of years. Kevin Campbell of Minor Baseball says the plan is to strip the infield surface, regrade it and re-sod it. The basepaths will be replaced with a shale-like product called ‘Turface.’ Minor Ball hopes to have a U18 AA team playing on the big diamond this season. The men’s league will also benefit from the new surface, should it be revived in 2023.
