The Leader wasn’t aware it was in competition with the Town of Slave Lake to have the best community events calendar, but at the April 11 meeting the town admitted defeat, saying there was no point trying to get more community events on its calendar, since The Leader is doing such a great job.
It’s nice to be appreciated.
Our calendar is on www.lakesideleader.com, and we try very hard to get every event in the community on there. Below the calendar is a list of weekly and monthly events by day of the week. Check it out.

What’s going on over there? That’s what your Page 9 correspondent has been wondering, every time he drives past the Slave Lake Visitor Information Centre. There’s a large, fairly shallow excavation across Poplar Drive from the VIC, with the peat moss/topsoil piled beside it. Is something being built?
It seems the owner just wants to get rid of all that spongy peat and get it down to the clay, so he can build it back up with other material and sell the lots to whoever does want to build something. The peat, we’re told, will be mixed with dirt and offered for sale.

This moose was contemplating a dash across Hwy. 2 by the weigh scales just east of Slave Lake on the afternoon of April 11. But it changed its mind and headed back into the bush when a photographer stopped for a shot.

The Alberta government released its second report on methane emissions reduction. It says the amount of methane emitted by the oil and gas sector in Alberta decreased by 44 per cent between 2014 and 2021, the goal by 2025 is a 45 per cent decrease by 2025.
On Page 23, the High Prairie School Division ad has a photo of the Roland Michener Secondary School Rams with their hand games win, but calls them are the Kinuso Knights. With spring break, the ad wasn’t able to be fixed.
