The Roland Michener Rams got back on the field last week, practicing for their inaugural competitive high school football season, which starts this fall.

Head coach Taylor Hulme says the spring camp runs May 16 – 27. He expects the team will compete in the six-per-side league, given the numbers trying out.

“Practice is going well,” he says. “The players are beginning to gather the skills necessary for organized football (which as far as we know has never existed in Slave Lake). There is a lot of excitement and positive attitudes out there.”

Practices resume on Aug. 15, just before the regular season.

Trying out for the all-important quarterback are Brayden Alook and Tristen Emes. Seven of the players were with the squad that practiced last year. The rest are new.
