Leader staff

The Town of Slave Lake’s new community services director has been keeping The Leader up to date on programs that are happening, coming up soon or in the planning stages. Or – in the case of the first one – have just happened.

Here are a few Tasha Albert sent us recently:

Mural Mosaic – January 17 and 18 – With funds from the Government of Canada’s Reopening Fund the town did a mural to honour front line workers. Public painting sessions were held January 17th and 18th at the Legacy Centre. The mural will be hung in an outdoor location not yet determined.

Frost Fest is coming right up, February 11-20. Planning has started and ideas for activities are being sought.

“Stay tuned for more information,” says Albert.

Fitness programs
Several of these are in the works, Albert says. They include Walk Your Way to Fitness, On the Ball, Stroller Rollers, Pickleball and more to be announced coming up. Check out the Town of Slave Lake Facebook page and website for all the details, such as when and where they are happening.

Membership Promo
The town has 10 rec passes on sale. Buy one 10-pass, get the second 10-pass for half price. This is for any 10-pass to the Northern Lights Aquatic Centre, Multi Rec Centre or for a Multi Facility Pass.

Upcoming Events – events coming up throughout the year are the grand opening for the new splash park in the southeast part of town (May), Community Clean Up (May), Participaction Community Challenge (June), Summer Splash (July and August), Canada Day (July) and more.
