Add a ball hockey tournament to the already packed schedule of events for the All-In Slave Lake weekend.

“I know it’s last-minute!” says tournament organizer Kennedy Hartman with the Town of Slave Lake.
Hartman has high hopes, though, and turnout for ball hockey events is usually pretty good, the sport being quite popular.

The games are being held outdoors, in the Multi Rec Centre parking lot, on Friday, Aug. 26. It’s actually three tournaments going on alongside each other, for age groups spanning seven to 17 years old.

So… teams are wanted, but so are volunteers to help run the event. Hartman was handing out posters last week – one calling for teams – at the rate of $200 per team – and the other a plea for helpers. Needed are referees, scorekeepers, check-in table attendants, first aid providers and others to help set up and take down. To offer your support, get hold of Ashley Whitford at 780-849-8005, or ashley.whitford@slavelake.ca.

To register a team, give the MRC a call at 780-849-8028, or stop by the front desk. Teams can have from four to six players, which must include at least one goalie.
