Grade 2 students at CJ Schurter School learning hand games on February 16. The three girls on the front left had the rock in the opposite hand that the ‘shooter’ on the other team guessed. This means they go on to the next round. Further down the line, some kids are out, having had the rock in their right hand.
Carrie McGillivary, Indigenous success coach, taught both CJ and EG Wahlstrom School students hand games recently. In March, an elder will teach the older elementary students the hand signals for competition. From Slave Lake, EG Wahlstrom and Roland Michener Secondary School will compete at a hand games tournament in High Prairie on April 11.
