Slave Lake is one of the sites this year for Hunt Mania Shows. It stops at the curling rink Sept. 5 – 7.
“Buy, sell or trade,” says organizer Spatzi Kamil, whose company holds eight to 10 such events per year around Alberta. It’ll feature 30 – 40 vendors, he says, all around a hunting theme.
“Everything associated with hunting,” is how he describes it, adding, “it’s sort of an art form,” putting on such shows.
There’ll be a knife booth, a jerky booth, an army surplus booth and many more. People are invited to bring their firearms in to trade or sell, and of course to buy stuff. Somebody from the Chief Firearms Office will be there making sure everything goes according to the rules.
“Kids are welcome,” Kamil says.
If you’re under 13 years of age, you get in free. Otherwise, it’s $10 per person.
The action commences on the Thursday evening, from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday’s hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Things wrap up on Saturday the 7th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kamil says normally the shows run Friday through Sunday, “but we couldn’t get any hotel rooms on Saturday night!”
Hunt Mania moves on from Slave Lake to Tilley, down south, and then to Beaverlodge.
