Some Slave Lake and area schools follow the Christmas school concert tradition to a tee, and others give it a festive twist. Below are the Christmas concerts from the schools that got back to The Leader by the publication deadline.

December 8
The Slave Lake Koinonia Christian School is holding its Christmas concert on December 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Christian Church in Slave Lake. For more information, contact Koinonia at 780-849-5400.

December 13
The Roland Michener Secondary School is putting on Elf Junior the Musical on December 13 at the Legacy Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and a food bank donation on the day. Tickets go on sale on December 1. People can buy them online at or at Distractions, The Source, or Slave Lake library. For more details, contact the school at 780-849-3064.

December 14
Thursday, December 14 is a popular day for a school Christmas concert. Both St. Mary of the Lake Catholic School in Slave Lake and Kinuso School have concerts that day.
St. Mary’s event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the school. The theme is Christmas under the stars. For more information, contact St. Mary’s at 780-849-5244.
Kinuso School is having a Christmas concert starting at 7 p.m. in the school gym. For more information, contact Kinuso School at 780-775-3694.

December 20
Two Slave Lake elementary schools have events on Wednesday, December 20.
During the day, CJ Schurter Elementary School has four shows at the Legacy Centre. The school will send out information to parents for which show your child will be in. The shows are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m. For more information, contact CJS at 780-849-4344.
In the evening from 5 to 7 p.m., EG Wahlstrom School in Slave Lake has its annual Winter Wonderland on December 20. The school is decorated. There’s entertainment and a meal in the gym. Classrooms have different Christmas activities. This is open to the community. For more information, contact EGW at 780- 849-3539.

December 21
Smith School has a dinner and a show on Thursday, December 21. The Grade 1 to 6 students will perform The Night Before Christmas and the Grade 7 to 9 students will perform The Grinch.
Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale on December 1. Tickets are required for dinner, but the show is open for everyone. For more information, contact Smith School at 780- 829-3979.
